<p>Now, what is taurine? Taurine is an acid amino which is found in <strong>dark meat turkey, chicken, some seafood like white fish, mussels, and clams</strong>. It&#39;s also found in energy drinks that believed to improve athletic performance, although in a release Chen says the taurine in drinks is man-made and is in unstudied amounts and the taurine in her study is from natural sources.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<div>Chen looked at data and blood samples collected from the NYU Women&#39;s Health Study which enrolled more than 14,000 women ages 34 to 65 between 1985 and 1991. She&nbsp;compared blood samples and diet information from 223 women who developed heart disease or died from it during the study follow-up from 1986 to 2006.&nbsp;The researchers compared these blood samples to those of 223 others who didn&#39;t get heart disease.&nbsp;They divided the women into three groups, from lowest to highest taurine in their blood.&nbsp;Overall, the reduction in heart disease risk was not substantial for those in the highest group compared to the lowest.&nbsp;However, Chen found that for those women who had high total cholesterol, but with&nbsp;the highest blood levels of taurine had a lower risk (60% reduction) of heart disease.</div>

<div>It is believed that <strong>taurine having the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may help to lower the&nbsp;coronary heart disease</strong>. In summary, there is still rooms for further studies and experiments on this natural nutrient called <strong>taurine</strong>.</div>
